Turkish migrant workers banned as Putin slaps on sanctions

Russian businesses are to be prohibited from hiring new Turkish migrant workers from the beginning of next year after Russian President Vladimir Putin  signed a decree imposing a package of economic sanctions against Turkey following the downing of a Russian Su-24 bomber over Syria. The current visa-free regime for Turkish nationals travelling to Russia is to be suspended at the same time. Several Turkish organisations and a range of imported goods are also to be embargoed, with more details expected to be released later today.
Putin has additionally directed the government to introduce a ban on charter flights between the two countries and Russian travel agencies have been advised to stop selling tours to Turkey, the Kremlin announced. In a related move, he has ordered his government stepping up security control at Russian ports in the Sea of Azov and Black Sea to prevent what he called the illegal  movement of Turkish vessels in the region,
