Free Trade Zone between EU and EEU: Russia and the European Union should be looking to create a common economic space, the first step towards which would be the establishment of a Free Trade Zone between the EU and the newly formed Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Speaking at the opening of the 66th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva yesterday, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said that the EEU was “open for interaction with all interested states and other regional integration groupings.”
“We should realize [that we have an] undivided responsibility for the fates of European peoples and the fact that there is no alternative to interstate economic interaction based on open political dialogue and a fair appreciation of each other’s interests.”
