Russia faces hotel glut: Overseas hotel chains are planning to to double their presence in the Russian market according to the Ernst & Young management consultancy but experts fear they will have a challenge filling them once the 2018 World Cup is finished – and even while it is on. E&Y estimates there will be up to 61,000 rooms belonging to foreign companies in Russia by 2020, although only 50,000 rooms are estimated to be required to host the football tournament. Only around 20% of the new international hotels will be built in Moscow with the rest being distributed around 55 other Russian cities. rbth
