The Aviation Aircraft Engineering Centre, the first of its kind dedicated to the design of distributed systems, was opened this week with a mission to coordinate the work of regional engineering offices currently developing aircraft components that Russia used to have to import. Aviation is a subsidiary of the state-rub Rostec organisation, and the new engineering centre is intended to reduce Russian producers’ dependence on foreign suppliers and eventually to produce components and systems for export. rbc
