Russian capital outflow past peak, Finance Ministry claims

Russian capital outflow totalled $ 52.5bn for the first six months of 2015, according to figures released by the country’s central bank (CBR) this week, with the Ministry of Finance suggesting that the crisis may now be past it peak.  Capital outflows in the second quarter of 2015 amounted to $20bn, the CBR is reporting  – 38.5% down on the Q1 figure of $32.5bn. The Ministry of Finance is now forecasting that the total for the year could end up at  somewhere between $70bn and $80bn while the Bank is putting its money on a more conservative $90bn – still nevertheless considerably down from the $120bn being predicted six months ago.
