Russian-Chinese trade upward curve continues despite rouble

Russian-Chinese trade grew year-on-year by 6.8% to  reach $95.28 bn, the Chinese customs department reported today (January 13), with  imports of Russian goods to China increasing  4.9% to $41.6bn, and Chinese exports to Russia growing by 8.2% to $53.68bn. The deputy director of the financial studies institute of Bank of China Zong Liang flagged, however, that the rouble’s continuing weakness was beginning to cause concern, but that the  eventual stabilisation of Russia’s currency would help strengthen cooperation between Russia and its fellow BRICS member states.  ITAR-TASS
