Russian LTE smartphone sales up by 240% in 2014

Russian LTE smartphone sales grew by 250% last year to 4.2 million according to analysts at Russia’s largest mobile operator MTS who have also estimated that overall smartphone sales rose by 40% over the same period. The LTE share of the smartphone market know stands at 15%.
Overall last year’s sales figures  were significantly affected by a surge of demand in Q4 when more handsets were sold in the three-month period than in the whole of 2013, as Russians stampeded to convert their rapidly devaluing roubles into hardware. The iPhone remains the most popular LTE smartphone in Russia and accounted for 40% of sales.  Interfax
