Russian Railways considers ditching SAP for domestic alternative

Russian Railways is  considering terminating its long term relationship with the the Germa enterprise software giant SAP in favour of a domestic equivalent. The possibility was discussed at in internal meeting last week.
The state-run rail company is one of SAP’s largest customers anywhere in the world. It spent RUB3.7bn on the purchase of licences  in 2015 alone and some 350,000 of its employees use its software. It is estimated that it could cost RUB 10bn and take about five years to replace the software.
