Russian Railways recapitalised: The Russian government has ordered the authorised capital of Russian Railways to be increased to help pay for the the modernization of the Trans-Siberian and Baikal-Amur railways, it was announced today. Earlier this year, Russian Railways unveiled plans to add a 105-mile detour to the Trans-Siberian Railway to the south of Lake Baikal in order to increase its capacity to carry both passenger and freight trains.
