Russian SWIFT exclusion: The European Parliament this week called on EU member states to consider excluding Russia from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) financial transaction system. SWIFT co-ordinates the operations of 10,000 financial organizations in 210 countries, and provides the infrastructure for $6bn’s worth of interbank operations every day. RIA Novosti
