Russian titanium exports to US airline sector increase despite sanctions

Russian titanium exports: Metallurgical exports – principally of titanium – from the Sverdlosvsk region in Russia’s Urals Federal District increased last year despite western sanctions, according to a spokesman from Russia’s Foreign Ministry. “Exports of goods from Sverdlovsk [to the United States] amounted to less than $1.5bn for the whole of 2013, while they stood at more than $1.7bn in the first eleven months of 2014 alone,” Alexander Kharlov said today (February 10).  The bulk of exports from the region are titanium-based alloys produced by VSMPO-Avisma for the US aerospace giant Boeing.
