Russian trade with Indonesia set to double next year

Russian trade with Indonesia:  Russia plans to increase commodity trade turnover with Indonesia in from $2.5bn to  $5bn by next year, its acting Minister of Trade and Industry  Denis Manturov told a  meeting of the two countries’  Intergovernmental Committee in Kazan this week.  Russian companies are also planning to participate in the redevelopment of new seaports in Indonesia, with United Shipbuilding Corporation President Alexei Rakhmanov due to visit Jakarta in the near future. “Indonesia  offers more  possibilities for the development of aviation and shipbuilding than anywhere else  on the planet,” Manturov said.  The size of its population and the disparate nature of its communities’ locations across the largest archipelago in the  world also offered significant opportunities for Russia’s  Glonass global positioning system, he added.
Other projects where Russian involvement is already  scheduled include the construction by Rusal of a bauxite and alumina plant in West Kalimantan Province,of a railroad in East Kalimantan Province by Russian Railways, the setting  up of the Vi Holding company for the processing of nickel ore on Sulawesi island.
