Synergy CEO Alexander Mechetin
Russian vodka production declined by over 22% last year – its fastest rate since modern records began. It is believed that the high excise duties imposed on legal alcohol producers has pushed many consumers into the black market. Alexander Mechetin, CEO of one of Russia’s leading spirit producers the Synergy Group, is predicting that the decline will continue this year and that production will be down again by at least 15%.
