Finance Minister Anton Siluanov

Sanctions and rouble costing Russia $140bn: Russia’s role in the Ukrainian crisis has cost the country around $140bn, the country’s Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said this week, and the 30% drop in the value of the rouble means it has lost a further $90bn to $100bn this year. The figures are disputed are slightly lower than those collated by the Institute of Development at Moscow’s Higher School of Economics, which suggest that the combined damage is likely to be around $57bn a year for the next three years. rbth
