Siberian electricity prices rise to European levels as Lake Baikal drops

Siberian electricity prices have almost risen to those paid by Russians living in the Urals and Europe as the low levels of water in Lake Baikal have led to a sharp rise in the cost of hydropower generation. Siberians usuall pay about one third less than their compatriots to the west, but in October the differential had dropped to between 3% and 4%. Moscow Telegraph
