Iranian food exporters: Russia has give the green light to food imports from six Iranian companies, subject to their goods passing health and safety inspections carried out by the Russian watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor. “Two of the companies are poultry and meat producers and the other four are dairy products producers (including cheese),”Rosselkhoznadzor said in a statement yesterday.
“The companies will be allowed to start deliveries only after Iran’s Veterinary Service signs an additional number of protocols on safety conditions due to concerns about bird influenza, NDV and murrain.”
The development is a sure sign of a thaw in relations between Iran and Russia, while imports of meat, fish, dairy products, fruit and vegetables from the EU, US, Canada, Australia and Japan into Russia remain banned in retaliation for the sanctions imposed after Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
