Technip to continue with Yamal LNG Project

French engineering and construction firm Technip yesterday confirmed that it will carry on with the construction of the Yamal LNG project in northwest Siberia, which will eventually involve the drilling of more than 200 wells, the construction of 3 LNG trains – each with a capacity of 5.5 million tons per year –  a vast gas terminal and the commissioning of 16 icebreaker tankers, each of which will be able to transport 170,000 m³. Technip is working on the project with the privately-owned Russian gas producer Novatek (60% ownership) and two foreign partners in France’s Total and China’s CNPC (20% each). The Moscow Times
