UK gives Fridman six months to sell North Sea assets

Mikhail Fridman

The UK government has given Mikhail Fridman six months to sell the dozen North Sea oil and gas fields that the Russian businessman bought off the German utility company RWE’s DEA subsidiary last month using  his Luxembourg-based investment vehicle LetterOne for €5.1bn. The UK fears that Fridman’s ownership of the fields could be affected by any further tightening of sanctions.
