World Cup host regions to get RUB1bn infrastructure subsidy

World Cup host regions: Three of  the regions that will play host to the 2018 World Cup – Volgograd, Rostov and Tatarstan – are to share subsidies of over RUB1bn to help them get their infrastructure in order before the tournament begins. The subsidy allocation has been signed off by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and is for the “construction of the underwater crossings, water supply, gas distribution networks, reconstruction of water supplies, sewers and pumping stations required for the operation of sports facilities for the FIFA World Cup.”  Rostov will receive the lion’s share (RUB917.4m), Volgograd 227.7m and Tatarstan 52.3m.
