Windows 10: Yandex CEO and co-founder Arkady Volozh would like to see his software replace Bing as the default search engine in all desktops and portable devices sold in Russia running on Microsofts’ new Windows 10 operating system.
Volozh’s appetite has been whetted by last week’s announcement that the US giant had come to a similar arrangement with Baidu in China.
“Microsoft is merging its desktop and mobile platforms and together it will have quite a significant [market] share, 20-30 percent. It’s not hostile to us and we have something to talk to them about,” he said.”The fact that Bing can be replaced on Windows 10 by something else is a big deal – it’s never happened before. We hope it could be extended not only to Russia but also other markets,” Volozh said.
