Parliament debates Islamic banking in Tajikistan

Islamic banking in Tajikistan: The Lower Chamber of Tajikistan’s Parliament will tomorrow debate the introduction of an Islamic banking system, whereby the National Bank of Tajikistan would grant licenses to Islamic lending agencies to operate in the country and then regulate their activities. The move would “open a new page in the sphere of credit relations and will help attract investments from Islamic nations, create new jobs in the country, and reduce the outflow of labour migrants from Tajikistan,” according to MP Ismoil Talbakov.
