Tajik lead production plant: China’s Tajik-Sino Mining Company has signed a deal for the development of a $200m lead production plant at the Zarnisori Shimoli mine in north-west Tajikistan, close to the border with Uzbekistan. The new plant will have an annual processing capacity of more than two million tons of ore and 20,000 tons of lead. China Global LTD bought the Zarnisori mine at auction nearly ten years ago and went on to form the Tajik-Sino Mining Company in 2006. Last September, Tajikistan and China signed an MoU committing the two countries to developing the ‘Industrial Area of Tajikistan and China.’
