Ashgabat sets up commission to explore Turkmenistan WTO accession

Turkmenistan WTO accession: The government in Ashgabat has set up a commission to explore the country’s accession to the World Trade Organization. The commission will study the WTO’s rules and analyze the impact of the country’s possible accession on the national economy and before drawing up a route map.
Turkmenistan’s accession to the WTO was first proposed by the EU in 2011.Kyrgyzstan became the first former Soviet Republic to join in 1998 and has since been followed by  Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova, Tajikistan Russia, Kazakhstan and all three Baltic states. As well as Azerbaijan, Belarus and Uzbekistan still remain outside the WTO.
