Bilateral trade between Turkmenistan and Iran set exponential growth target

President Hassan Rouhani of Iran

Bilateral trade between Turkmenistan and Iran could increase from its current annual level of  $3.7bn up to $60bn over the next 10 years. At a joint president with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov in Ashgabat this week, Iran’s  President Hassan Rouhani said that, provided the political will was there, the target was realistic. Iran intended to continue  to import natural gas imports from Turkmenistan, and to increase cooperation in a number of  areas of including power generation, the environment, and water supplies, he added. The two leaders also reaffirmed their respective countries’ determination to speed up the launch of the North-South transport corridor from the Gulf of Oman and Iran to Turkmenistan.
