Eni: The Italian oil and gas group Eni today signed a preliminary deal to move into offshore oil and gas exploration in Turkmenistan. The company confirmed that it had signed a memorandum agreeing “to explore the possibility of extending Eni’s activities to Turkmenistan’s offshore sector of the Caspian Sea.” Eni has also agreed to extend its operations in the Nebit Dag onshore area until 2032. The agreements were signed after Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi – making the first ever visit to Turkmenistan by an Italian premier – held talks with President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. According to the President, experts estimate combined reserves to be in the region of 500m tons of oil and 600bn m³ of natural gas. Newskaz
