Ukraine-EU free trade zone: Following ten hours of technical consultations  between the EU, Ukraine and Russia on Tuesday, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin is predicting that the proposed  free trade zone between the EU and Ukraine will be ready by the beginning of next year.  “The  free trade zone  will be in place from January 1 and nobody can abolish it. This is the final decision,” he said in an interview on the 1+1 TV channel.
The EU’s spokesperson for Trade and Agriculture Daniel Rosario was more circumspect  “Technical consultations among the EU, Ukraine and Russia continued for ten hours,”  he said in a statement. “The parties discussed practical solutions to issues regarding concerns of the Russian side in connection with the implementation of deep and comprehensive free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU … All parties noted their positions, and we will later raise them to the political level.”
