Uzbek GDP grows 7.5% in Q1

Uzbek GDP grew by 7.5% between January and March compared to the same quarter in 2015, the government’s press service is reporting. It put the rise down to the ‘effective measures’ taken by Tashkent to stimulate export that had helped preserve the country’s foreign trade balance in the face of a sharp decline in demand, increasing uncertainty and a tough competitive environment. Industrial production grew by 7%, agriculture by 6.7%, services by 12.1% and  retail trade turnover by 12.8%.The volume of investments increased by 8.5% with FDI up 14.4%.
