Moscow appoints US law firm as consultants in Rosneft privatisation

Rosneft privatisation: The US-based international law firm White & Case will act as legal advisors to the Russian government during the privatization of its stake in the state-owned oil company Rosneft, Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said today.
White & Case already represents Russia’s interests in the US federal court in Washington, where it is helping challenge The Hague’s decision to oblige Russia to pay $50bn to the former shareholders of Yukos oil company in compensation.
The Russian government expects to raise around $7.5bn from the privatisation of its 19.5% stake in Rosneft.
